The Chevrolet Motor Car Company was founded on November 3, 1911.
This year - exactly one hundred years after the inception of the company - we invite you to celebrate our rich history through a series of European events held throughout our Centennial year.
European heritage
Chevrolet’s roots are actually firmly planted in Europe. The company’s joint founder, Louis Chevrolet was born in Switzerland, and for this reason the company has always held an intrinsically European flavour.
Today, of course, Chevrolet is one of the best known automotive brands in the world – the golden bow-tie still standing for the iconic design and the spirit of optimism that inspired Louis all those years ago.
Chevrolet engages in social, sporting and cultural projects
Louis Chevrolet was a committed racing driver, so today it’s fitting that Chevrolet is not only involved in but actually dominates the WTCC (World Touring Car Championships) and BTCC (British Touring Car Championships).
Creativity was a strong driving force for the young Louis Chevrolet, so the brand today is involved in nurturing creative talent across Europe through the Young Creative Chevrolet (YCC) initiative.
And finally, in this centenary year, Chevrolet has embarked on a partnership with SOS Children’s Villages and will, by November this year have donated 100 new cars to this inspirational charity. The partnership is highly appropriate as its aim is to improve the mobility of disadvantaged children in Europe, Uzbekistan, South Africa, Lesotho and Israel. Louis Chevrolet would have been proud.
